DRBR: Tennessee Titans

During his early years in Dallas, Tony Pollard was one of the most dynamic running backs that the DRBR put together every single season. We were all hoping that at one point in time, Tony Pollard would finally get the backfield to himself over Zeke Elliott. In the last couple of years, he's had the backfield to himself—a year in Dallas and a year in Tennessee—but those dynamic numbers have not been able to keep up.
Last season, he scored a 73 in yards after contact, something that he did well while he was in Dallas. But we saw a big drop in tackles avoided per attempt, something that he also did well in Dallas but has not translated to Tennessee. Maybe he's just a different style of runner now. Maybe he's not going to make people miss the way he did when he was in Dallas. And as long as that 73 in yards after contact continues to stay in that area with the volume that we're seeing—and maybe a few more touchdowns—Tony Pollard's going to have a really nice floor every single week.
Tennessee has revamped their offense with new weapons. Cam Ward, the new starting quarterback drafted first overall, will help ignite this offense and get them moving in the right direction. And if they can do that, Tony Pollard may see his ceiling start to climb once again.
The most dynamic back on this team still goes to Tyjae Spears at this point. An 85 in tackles avoided per attempt shows exactly what he can do when he has the football in his hands. He scored 60 in yards after contact and 61 in receiving yards after the catch. Would like to see him go a little bit higher on both of those areas, but that's not really Spears' game.
Spears’ fantasy relevancy all depends on his knee, though. After he was drafted, it was found out that he's completely missing his meniscus in one of his knees, and that was going to cap how long of an NFL career he would end up having. After missing quite a few games last season, it's going to be interesting to see if he can stay healthy and on the field—and if his knee causes any performance issues as well going forward.
Tony Pollard, for me as of right now, is a safe floor play. And I'm not backing him up with Tyjae Spears. Even if Tony Pollard were to go down for a significant period of time, grabbing Tyjae Spears, to me, probably doesn't equate to just a complete switch in fantasy relevancy.
