Aaron Jones was the RB1 in Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season, and it looked like a huge season was incoming for the veteran running back. Then he missed six of the next 12 weeks with injuries and only gave us one RB1 performance during that entire time. Now, the good news is he was healthy over the last four weeks of the season and was at least an RB2 in every single one of those weeks. This means if you held on to him for the fantasy playoffs, he was at least viable when you needed him the most. But if you missed the playoffs because of him, it didn't really do you any good.
Aaron Jones still has the burst, the acceleration, and the dynamic playmaking ability. His 3.16 yards after contact per attempt last season ranked 14th among running backs. Aaron Jones is going to be looking to stay on the field and have his biggest season yet. He wants to show Green Bay that they made a mistake. But if ifs and buts were candies and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas. It's only July as of this recording, and Christmas isn't even in the conversation yet. So, it's great that he wants to stay healthy and great that he wants to prove his former team wrong, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he's just going to stay on the field.
Injuries continue to be Aaron Jones's biggest issue. If you were to look at points per game, let's say he gives us 12 healthy games in 2024; he would probably be a high-end RB2 at the worst in those 12 games. But if he gives us 12 games, that's not going to help us out for the entire season. And what 12 games will he end up getting us? Luckily for us, his ADP isn't going to get too high this season. For the first time in a while, we can probably get a pretty decent discount on Aaron Jones, and if we can get him as our RB3, then that is exactly where you'll want him to be on your team.
