QB: Jayden Daniels - WAS

Updated: Jul 1, 2024

I can't help it, I'm excited to see Jayden Daniels this year in this Washington offense. Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, Austin Ekeler, Brian Robinson. Then they add in the rookies of Luke McCaffrey to play the slot, which I definitely love. How about young tight end Ben Sinnott? He's going to have a chance to learn behind Zach Ertz. This kid's weapons on day one may not be to the level of what we see for Caleb Williams, but still, the cupboard isn't bare here for him either.

The most important thing here is the change in the coaching staff. Ron Rivera and that last regime were just too vanilla; they were too boring. Now we go to head coach Dan Quinn and offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury. Kingsbury as a head coach, eh. Kingsbury as an offensive coordinator, Jakey likey. Kingsbury was at USC last year with Caleb Williams. He's coached the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Baker Mayfield, and most importantly, a young, highly drafted rookie quarterback that was also mobile just a couple of years ago, Kyler Murray. Kyler's rookie year, he was the quarterback seven overall in fantasy football. Kingsbury's offense is very fantasy-friendly. They put up fantasy points in his system.

We have the rushing upside that we know about. We have the pass-catching weapons, both a solidified wide receiver one in McLaurin and a deep threat in Jahan Dotson as well. Plus, we have a very bad overall defense in Washington. They're going to be playing from behind more than a lot of people may think, which means Jayden Daniels is going to keep throwing each and every week.

If he can stay healthy all year long, he's going to be a top 12 overall fantasy quarterback. Really similar to Caleb Williams, though, we really don't know what to expect for sure from the former Heisman winner in Jayden Daniels. We know he has an opportunity to go out there and succeed, but we've never actually seen it. If you gamble on Daniels, I'm more than likely to draft another quarterback in the late rounds as insurance. If Daniels goes out there and balls out, drop that second quarterback. If he doesn't, if he struggles, you have an option there just in case. The last thing you want is for your fantasy season to start and you to be caught with your pants around your ankles. Until we know this kid can produce at the NFL level, insurance isn't a bad thing.
