The former Chargers target hog is now in Chicago, competing for targets like a fat kid looking for cupcakes at a birthday party. We also know that they have a rookie quarterback now in Chicago, but he doesn't only have Keenan Allen. He's got DJ Moore, Rome Odunze, Cole Kmet, Gerald Everett, D'Andre Swift. Plus, this defense is improved in Chicago; they may not have to throw the ball a crap ton.
And now, we have a 32-year-old wide receiver in Keenan Allen who has struggled to stay on the field the last two years. But we can't ignore what he did when he was on the field at least last year. In just 13 games, he had 150 targets, 108 receptions, 1,243 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns, and finished as the wide receiver eight overall, all while missing four games. The dude was 31 years old and balling last year. I'm pretty sure he could do it at 32 if he got the volume again.
But the volume is where this is going to get really hard. From an NFL perspective, he fits this team great—just not for fantasy. He's got that veteran leadership; he's a safety blanket option for Caleb Williams. But Keenan Allen has had 135-plus targets in six of the last seven years. How is that going to happen in this Chicago offense with all of these weapons? Plus, we have no idea what to expect from Caleb Williams. A lot of people think he's going to go out there and kill it, but we've never actually seen it on an NFL field before.
I really see Keenan Allen to be more in the neighborhood of 75 catches for 850 yards and six touchdowns. Good enough to be a low-end wide receiver two, maybe even a high-end wide receiver three, but the days of the top 10 finishes, those are probably over.s long as he is fully healthy, the guy honestly should be a top 15 wide receiver in this offense.
