How crazy is it that just last year, Justin Jefferson basically missed eight games and still finished with 1,000 yards receiving? And he did it all while not having Kirk Cousins for the last five games of the year. But now, he's not going to have Kirk once again. Is it going to be Sam Darnold? Do they go immediately to their new rookie, J.J. McCarthy out of Michigan? We may not know that for sure, but there are a couple of things we do know.
We know that T.J. Hockenson is still going to be recovering from his ACL and may not be 100% until mid-season. We also know that K.J. Osborn is gone now; he's in New England. So that tells me that we have an opportunity for Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison to both feast early on in 2024.
Plus, we know Justin Jefferson is out there making quarterback money. The dude just signed a 4-year, $140 million deal, so you know he's going to be a large part of this offense still. Now, the team did go out and bring in Aaron Jones. They're trying to find a more consistent run game to take a little bit of that pressure off whoever they do decide to start at quarterback.
But this is Justin Jefferson, and I don't need to sit here and tell you how good he is. We know he's going to get the volume; he's going to get the targets. But we do not know for sure how catchable those targets are going to be, and that right there is the biggest red flag. The dude is still going to be a great early-round pick, but he may not be as safe as some other guys like CeeDee Lamb, Tyreek Hill, or Amon-Ra St. Brown.
