So first up, I want to talk about a guy. His name is Devon Achane. He's currently at pick 115, according to the Underdog ADP, which puts him in the 10th round, and he's RB 38 currently.
Okay, now listen, this guy here, in my opinion, is one of the best backs in this draft. I stated this months ago on my Twitter, even before the draft, and I said that if he landed in the right spot, he'd be a fantasy gold. And guess what? He did. Miami was the perfect scheme and offense for Achane. It's a zone run scheme that they run in Miami, and it's very similar to what he ran back at Texas A&M.
Now, I'm telling you, a lot of people want to talk about the size and stuff like that. So, before I even get into all the reasons why I think Achane is going to be a smash hit in this Dolphins offense, I want to dispel some of those worries or concerns that people have labeled upon him, primarily because of his size.
So, he was listed at 5'9" and 188 pounds at his pro day and at the combine. But currently, as of this recording, he's been dialed in at 192 in OTAs. Again, he ran track at Texas A&M, and when he played, he played at a lighter weight due to the fact that he ran track. Now, he's focused solely on football, and he's able to put on some more muscle and some more pounds. And again, he's already added four pounds of muscle. So, by the time the season starts, who knows? He could be up at the 200-pound mark. But like I said, they didn't bring him in to be a bruising back or anything like that. They brought him in for his speed.
One key thing you've got to understand and know, now I know it was said jokingly, but when Mike McDaniels called him on draft day, the first thing he said to him jokingly was, "Hey, you still fast, right?" So just imagine, you've got Waddle, you've got Tyreek Hill, now you've got Achane. All these guys, 4.2, 4.3 speed, it's ridiculous. What are defenses going to be able to do? How are they going to be able to scheme against that?
So, one of the main things, I believe, the reason that they got Achane is also to be able to use him in multiple situations. They're going to be able to line him up outside, put him in the slot, do certain things that are going to make the defense try to adjust, and it's going to create serious mismatches. I mean, it's going to be unreal. Like I said, I stated this, and I truly believe this. This is the best place that this guy could have gone.
Now, okay, another little thing I want to dispel out there. As of this recording, there are rumors that Dalvin Cook could potentially go to Miami. So, if he's there by the time you guys are watching this, don't worry about that either. Okay, if Dalvin Cook comes to this team or if they have another back, it's not a problem. But the potential PPR aspect or outlook for a player like Achane within this offense is huge, especially at his ADP price point. You know, you still have Mostert and Wilson, let's just say Cook doesn't come there. So, you got those guys. Look, they had a total of 80 targets
