Top Handcuffs: Jerome Ford - CLE

Next up, I want to talk about Jerome Ford out of Cleveland. With no more Kareem Hunt and D'Ernest Johnson, Jerome Ford is the lone man in the stable right now. But listen, this guy is a workhorse. All they need to do is just get him involved, which he will get some of that Kareem Hunt work. It's clear the Browns believe in Fod with Hunt and Johnson no longer in play, and them adding no backs whatsoever in the draft. So that, to me, gives a clear indication that they believe in Jerome Ford and his abilities.

He's already been seen in OTAs being used in the "Kareem Hunt role," catching passes out of the backfield, showing a lot of rapport with the quarterbacks. It was actually a little funny excerpt from Nick Chubb when he was talking in OTAs and talking to the media. They were asking him about the running back room, and he slipped up and was talking about Jerome Ford but said Kareem Hunt. So it pretty much let you know that they're using Jerome Ford in the same ways that they use Kareem Hunt, and a lot of those wheel routes and slants. They're trying to get him out of space. He's a huge back, but he has good feet, contact balance, and vision. He has a lot of attributes that Nick Chubb does have, and I wish they would actually use Nick Chubb in a lot of those ways too. For whatever reason, I don't know why he didn't get a lot of pass work. That baffles me to this day.

But at any rate, the Browns have a top-five offensive line, and they're going to continuously run the ball. With Jerome Ford now entrenched into this offense for a full season, and with more pass-catching weapons, the offense is going to be built to basically run the ball. And if anything were to ever happen to Nick Chubb, Jerome Ford can come in and be an RB1 immediately. So Jerome Ford is another high-value handcuff that you want to go and take a look at later in your drafts, especially if you're a Nick Chubb owner.
