George Kittle entered the NFL back in 2017 and finished as the tight end 20. Every single season since then, George Kittle has been a top-five tight end, with the exception of 2020 when he only played eight games. But even in 2020, when he only played eight games, he was the tight end three on a points-per-game basis. So why do we keep fading George Kittle, and why does his ADP right now have him outside the top six tight ends? It just will never make any sense to me how the community will come together and be like, "Oh, Taysom Hill is this cheat code that has this crazy upside every single week," but then they'll fade George Kittle because they're worried about how consistent he'll be inside that 49ers offense.
If you're wanting to take a shot on somebody that's going to give you a ton of upside but more upside more consistently in a better offense, then draft George Kittle. Because again, as of this recording, he's being drafted as the tight end seven, and he's been a top-five tight end every single year except for one when he played eight games since 2018. So yeah, George Kittle's player profile is all about me getting up on my soapbox and telling people to stop being worried about George Kittle. Just draft him.
Injuries have been a concern in his career, but in 2021, he missed three games; in 2022, he missed two games; in 2023, he missed one game. Nine out of 16 games last season—that's how often George Kittle was a tight end one. Given the state of the tight end position, I'll take all the upside with George Kittle, along with some of the risk that he won't finish as a top-12 tight end because of the offense he is in, over almost anybody else any single week.
