Over the course of the first nine weeks last season, Isiah Pacheco gave you a couple of RB1 games, but it was his handful of RB2 games that really made him a safe bet, albeit not a high upside bet. Even his two RB1 games only ended up being seventh and 11th on the week. When you looked at what he could do at the beginning of the season, you were really more putting him in your lineup just to take the points he gave you to help you keep a decent floor with your team. He wasn't winning you many weeks.
Then, to finish the season, over the last eight weeks of the year, Isiah Pacheco finished as an RB1 three times, which is just as many games as he missed during that time frame as well. So, he was either giving you decent upside numbers, finally finishing as an RB1 more consistently, or he was missing time. That's always the biggest concern with Isiah Pacheco: the fact that he runs so hard and is such an aggressive running back that he is liable to get banged up consistently. The same held true in 2022 as well. Over the last couple of years, he has finished as an RB2 far more than he has finished as an RB1.
When you're drafting this year, I wouldn't be drafting expecting some huge breakout, which is what I feel a lot of fantasy owners do when they look at Kansas City running backs. They see this amazing offense with Patrick Mahomes and weapons all over the place and want the running back to be this high upside play every single week. If you draft Isiah Pacheco looking for that, then you're drafting yourself into, unfortunately, a year full of disappointment. But if you go into it and draft him as your RB2 and feel fine with his safe floor every single week, then you'll be happy with exactly what you get.
