There comes a point in time with some players where you just realize the risk and avoid it because you don't want to deal with the headache. That's kind of what I feel like when we talk about Deshaun Watson. He's played 12 games over the last two seasons, but in those 12 games, he's only averaged 15 fantasy points per game and, at times, doesn't really seem to have a feel for the game. We all know his ceiling is huge, but should we be saying instead that his ceiling was huge because it's been a long time since he's been dominant on an NFL field?
Now he has the weapons to do it this year: Amari Cooper, Elijah Moore, Jerry Jeudy, David Njoku. But at a position like the quarterback position that is so deep, do I want to put my eggs into the unknown basket that is Deshaun Watson? What we want Watson to be and what he's shown us he has been the last couple of years are two totally different things. He's been average, he's been mid for two seasons now. Maybe if you want to take a stab at him in some best ball leagues, sure, I get that. But in normal redraft leagues, I'm completely passing at this point. Honestly, I would rather just have somebody who's a little bit more solidified that has the safer weekly floor.
