QB: Caleb Williams - CHI

Updated: Jul 1, 2024

A lot of times a rookie quarterback is drafted and thrown into a bad situation. I mean, that team had the first pick for a reason, but that's not the case in Chicago with Caleb Williams. In fact, I can't think of another quarterback who's been taken first overall that has had a better situation than what Caleb Williams is looking at here this year. This offense is stacked: DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, Rome Odunze, D'Andre Swift, Cole Kmet, Gerald Everett—are you kidding me?

He has tons of weapons. His offensive line is improved, the defense is solid. He has to perform early on in his career; he doesn't have a whole lot of excuses if he doesn't.

Now, everything says he should perform at the next level, but the fact remains this: we've never actually seen him perform on an NFL field. Is he the next Joe Burrow? Is he the next Zach Wilson? No one knows for sure. We can't ignore the high potential, though. This guy does have top 10 upside in fantasy football. If you end up drafting Caleb Williams because you want a shot at that upside, I highly recommend you also take some insurance later on in your draft. If Caleb comes out early and is just balling, drop that second quarterback for somebody who's performing on waivers. If he comes out the gate and he struggles, at least you have yourself another solid option just in case it takes him some time to get going.
