Cooper Kupp is the epitome of an elite fantasy option. Through nine weeks, he was the wide receiver 2 overall, clearly on his way to not just living up to the hype of his wide receiver one draft position, but also proving that he is nearly situation-proof as an asset. The Rams were terrible last year, going three and five at the point of the season when Kupp got hurt. Despite that, he put up elite numbers every single week, and Stafford wasn't even playing that well. But there's Cooper Kupp, a player so consistently good in the last two years that you just couldn't help but smile when watching him play football. He's giving you a 25-point performance almost every single week in fantasy, and having him as your wide receiver one just makes you smile. It's nothing but good vibes from Cooper Kupp.
Then, he suffered a dreaded season-ending injury in the form of a high ankle sprain in week 10. Obviously, his season ended in part because the team didn't have much to play for at that point, but come on, man! They couldn't just throw him out there for the fantasy playoffs? It really killed a few teams last year because Cooper Kupp was shut down so early due to that high ankle sprain. I think if they were playing for the playoffs, there's a chance that he could have made it back in time. But I digress, the point was he didn't play last year because of that high ankle sprain. We didn't get to see him in the fantasy playoffs, which really sucked for a lot of fantasy teams.
Now, regardless, Kupp has dealt with injuries that were far more severe than this and always seems to come back strong afterwards. He did have tightrope surgery and should be at 100% to start this season. Now, I'm still betting on his production as long as Stafford is throwing him the ball 15 times a game. The dude is a target monster. He's gonna remain on my draft list, even though I do wish that we were getting a bigger injury discount because he's still going in the mid-first in ADP. But it's Cooper Kupp. You're going to pay for that production, that volume that he's almost guaranteed to have every game that he is healthy.
