If I told you that Antonio Gibson was a top 15 running back in 2022, you would look at me like I was crazy. But through the first 11 weeks of the season, before the combination of a broken foot and the return of Brian Robinson derailed his season, Antonio Gibson was the 15th best running back in the league from a fantasy perspective.
Now we have this fascinating training camp battle between both running backs to see who's going to take the starter reps for the Washington Football Team this year. Gibson has now had three straight seasons interrupted by injury, and despite being an electric talent when he is healthy, I worry that he's going to be in a committee with Brian Robinson, who, while not as explosive, is more consistent with the touches he gets.
The team is also expected to have one of the worst offenses in the league. They're starting Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback, and Gibson's ADP is only falling about five spots behind Brian Robinson, despite Robinson averaging nearly 18 touches a game when he started last year.
For me, I'd rather just pay up a round and take Brian Robinson. But if you really want an RB4 with some juice, I'm okay with Gibson at his current ADP, even though I do think he is an injury risk this season. He's going to be on my draft list, but again, the price you're paying for him versus Brian Robinson just seems kind of silly. Just go with Robinson. We know that he's most likely going to be the starter.
