Joe Mixon—he's out. Who's going to be the lead back now in Cincinnati? Will it be free agent Zack Moss, or will it be Chase Brown, the young guy that showed a little bit of burst last season?
When it comes to volume, clearly Zack Moss led the way, but he and Chase Brown were pretty darn close in their dynamic abilities. Chase Brown was slightly better in yards after contact, while Zack Moss was slightly better in tackles avoided per attempt. But it was in the passing game that Chase Brown was a whole lot better.
So, when it comes to their playmaking on the ground, both of these guys are going to have an opportunity to have a pretty decent ceiling each and every week. We saw it with Zack Moss several times last season in Indianapolis. But I do have some concerns about this offense being better than what we've seen Joe Mixon run with over the last few years. Joe Mixon's inefficiencies over the last few years have definitely been a topic of conversation.
You've moved on from Tyler Boyd, and we really don't know if there's a good chance that Tee Higgins ends up playing all 17 games with Cincinnati this year. Plus, with the wrist injury to Joe Burrow last season, what will he end up looking like? So in Cincinnati, is it the players that I'm concerned about? No, it's the offense as a whole.
Zack Moss—I definitely like him as a potential low-end RB2 that will see a decent amount of volume on the ground and get a few rushing touchdowns to go with it. He should see quite a bit of red zone work. Chase Brown is going to be that dark horse candidate, though. He's either going to be a guy that someone is going to stash and end up using later in the season, or he could end up being one of the best waiver wire pickups that anybody makes.t going to have to pay a premium to draft Mixon. Realistically, this season, I would love to get him as my RB2. And that way, if the scores below don't change and it really is just volume for Mixon and we don't see a whole lot of upside, you're not getting burnt in the early round.
