Oh Arthur Smith, how you killed fantasy dreams last season. Completely mishandled your team, acted like an absolute fool in postgame press conferences, and ended up getting fired at the end of the season. Well, good riddance to you. Raheem Morris is now the head coach in Atlanta, and he's already made it known Bijan Robinson is going to be his guy in 2024.
Last year was a frustrating carousel at the running back position in Atlanta, and when you look at the dynamic scores for both Tyler Allgeier and for Bijan Robinson, they aren't all that bad. But really, the breakout only points to one person, and that's Bijan Robinson. Now, I do expect Tyler Allgeier to still have some sort of a role in this offense, and I do anticipate him getting a few touches and doing all right with those touches now that Kirk Cousins is the quarterback.
But when you're taking a look at the potential split that we see here, we're probably looking at a 70/30 in favor of Bijan Robinson. Raheem Morris has already come out and said Bijan Robinson is our guy, and it really sounds like, based on what he has said, that they plan on using Bijan Robinson to the fullest extent of his abilities possible. Bijan Robinson did have a slight advantage over Tyler Allgeier when it came to yards after contact. He had a really big advantage when it came to tackles avoided per attempt, and then believe it or not, Tyler Allgeier actually scored a little bit better in receiving yards after the catch.
But these dynamic scores that we see here for Bijan Robinson are strong indicators that if he keeps those up and we see a nice increase in volume across the board for all of his other stats, he's going to end up easily being inside the top five running backs in 2024. So go ahead and draft Bijan Robinson without being worried about it. If you were hoping to get some standalone value from Tyler Allgeier, it's probably not going to happen.
If Tyler Allgeier was going to end up being on a different team and receive more than 30% of the touches, it would be very possible that we would be talking about him as a potential draft candidate. But at this point, he's really only a backup to Bijan. If someone really wants to pick him up in your draft, go ahead and let them. If you've got deeper rosters and you have Bijan already, it doesn't hurt to handcuff him. But don't expect anything out of Tyler Allgeier that's going to be fantasy relevant without a Bijan injury.
